A fine little piece I found about my old neighbourhood; Kupe St, Orakei.
Its so funny that the problems with the low socio economic communities are addressed only when a point or an example needs to be made.
Ultimately leading to some sort of gain.
These lazy people are not looking after their properties, these houses are sitting on million dollar real estates, get them out…. so you can have it????
How about actually talking to people there?
You’ll find that the majority of the residents take care of their properties above and beyond, are very community driven and look after one another, are as concerned about the so called ” burnt out P Labs” as you are, hard working ( employed!), and would be more than willing to help you if you asked.
Its as simple as saying hello and waving to them as they walk/drive past… true story.
However, most of NZ are intimated by a mixture of these peoples appearances, and their own TV watching developed imagination to do that, let alone scared to say hello in their own communities.
To tell the truth, their probably a lot friendlier than a lot of NZers are.
Of course I also saw a lot of bad things in that area, but whenever this stuff did occur, who were the people that helped stop these situations? The community.
To end my rant, the Kupe st neighbourhood, was one of the roughest, and the same time caring and community driven neighbourhoods I lived in, both beautiful and ugly at any given time. Nothing like summer in the city if you live on Kupe St.
And to top it off the view from our rooms were the best views of Auckland, how you love that!?
BootHill - Kupe St - Orakei. - Much love to the whole whanau up there.
F*ck Y’All. All of Y’All.
